The investigation group of the murder of businessman Eduart Reçi has interrogated the two brothers Shkëlqim and Florjan Dukaj.
The main suspect, Shkëlqim Dukaj, a policeman at Police Station No. 2 in Tirana, has refused to give any statement to his colleagues who are investigating the murder.
Unlike him, the other brother, Florian Dukaj, has denied having knowledge or connection with the execution of the businessman, claiming that he is not part of the event.
The two brothers are being questioned separately from each other, with the aim of not influencing the testimony. Despite Shkëlqim Dukaj's statement of denial, the police say that there is enough evidence to implicate the two as perpetrators in the incident.
The investigators had received information on the operative route that Reçi had property conflicts with the two brothers and started the verification of the conflict. From the footage of the security cameras, it has emerged that they guarded the businessman 5 days before committing the crime, being fixed by the cameras along the area.
On the day of the event, the cameras recorded that the police officer Shkëlqim Dukaj stayed in the area from 19:00 until 23:00 when the crime took place. He was hiding on the emergency stairs of a hotel near where the incident happened.
The businessman Eduard Reçi was killed around 23:00 on Wednesday (November 13, 2024), under the building where he lived, which he built himself, on "Faik Konica" street in Tirana, in front of the Faculty of History and Philology. The 52-year-old died in the hospital.
Eduart Reçi was with his wife in the backyard when he was shot and fell to the ground unconscious.
