The Court of Appeal has upheld the decision of the Court of First Instance in Elbasan, for the life sentence of Ramis Mici, who killed with a knife, in July 2022, his co-habitant Jetlira Elezin.
The court of Elbasan sentenced him to life imprisonment, declaring him guilty of the criminal offense of "murder due to family circumstances".
How did the event happen?
Jetlira Elezi, 37 years old, died on the spot after being stabbed by her 37-year-old husband Ramis Mici. The serious event took place on July 30, 2022 in Elbasan in an apartment that the couple had rented in the "Skënderbej" neighborhood. The owners of the apartment were the first to find the lifeless woman in the middle of the room. According to the owner Xhafer Zdrava, the bedroom was filled with blood, while the 37-year-old woman was found dead near the living room.
The murder happened because of jealousy, while the 37-year-old had raped the deceased a few days before the murder and broke her phone. Jetlira had found a way to call the police because of the violence, and Ramis Mici was accompanied by Elbasan officers, but was then released.
The 37-year-old had asked for a protection order and received it. In a reaction, the police clarified that they had been asked to file a report, but Elezi had only requested the protection order as he wanted to stay away from him. When they left the police station, they stayed in separate apartments.
Both came from marriages that ended in divorce and had two children from previous relationships. Jetlira was carrying one of her children, the girl, while Ramis' children are being carried by his ex-wife.
The 37-year-old had sent her daughter to her ex-husband, probably because they felt threatened by her co-habitant.
