The Foggia court dismissed the request for a summary trial for the 43-year-old Albanian Taulant Malaj who killed the 16-year-old daughter Xhesika, the Italian Massimo de Santis and seriously injured his wife.
Judge Francesca Mannini has described his request as inadmissible. Malaya's trial is expected to proceed as usual on March 22. Taulant Malaj and his wife were present in the courtroom. Also present was their 5-year-old son who witnessed all the violence.
"Today was an important hearing because there could be predetermined reductions in the sentence and we are very satisfied with the result. My client is not motivated by revenge despite her experience, but is driven by a need for justice. She is facing a very delicate psychological path and seeks justice especially for the murder of her daughter, Jessica. It will not be a simple procedural path, but we are determined" , said the Albanian's lawyer.
The serious event happened on May 7 last year and shocked the entire public opinion. The first victim was 51-year-old Massimo De Santis. He lived in the same building as Malaj and was stabbed several times at the entrance to the building, causing his instant death.
Afterwards, the Albanian went to his apartment, where he started hitting his wife. In defense of the latter came 16-year-old Jessica, who was seriously injured and later died. The whole event happened in front of the 5-year-old child, who, as the media write, is still in shock. The incident happened after Malaj suspected that his wife had an affair with the Italian De Santis.
