The event happened today, when Meci was transferred from Koridhalo prison to Malandrino.
Dhimitër Meçi was seriously injured today in Malandrino prison in Greece.
The 46-year-old from Labova, Gjirokastra, was shot with an improvised knife by Greek prisoner N. E., accused of criminal organization, who worked in the prison canteen.
The incident occurred today, when Meçiu was transferred from Koridhalos prison to Malandrino. Since his arrest in early December 2025, Meçiu had been held in the psychiatric ward of Koridhalos prison.
Dhimitër Meçi, alias Dhimo Meçi, was arrested by the Greek police along with Andrea Brokeri from Himara, Fatjon Prendin from Lezha, and several Greeks, in an operation in which Vasil Theohari from Finiqi was also wanted.
They are accused of the attempted murder of Greek mafia boss Jani Lala in May 2025.
Lala was actually executed a few months later by another criminal group. After his arrest, during searches of Meci's apartments in Greece and his apartment in Albania, an arsenal of weapons was found.
