An environment adapted for the cultivation and processing of cannabis has been discovered under a chicken coop in the village of Vreshtas, Maliq Municipality.
According to the Prosecutor's Office at the Korça Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, a citizen with the initials KL has been arrested, suspected of the criminal offense of "Production and sale of narcotics", committed in collaboration. Another person has been declared wanted.
The operation was carried out in cooperation with the Korça Local Police Directorate and the Narcotics Investigation Section, following investigations conducted using proactive methods.
During the search, investigators discovered a secret underground room, the entrance to which was through an improvised structure under the shed. The environment was adapted for growing and drying narcotic plants, with thermally insulated walls, a ventilation system, lighting, heating and water supply.
Inside, special areas for drying cannabis, pots with soil, remains of cut plant stems, and other equipment suspected of being used for the cultivation and processing of the narcotic substance were found.
The investigative actions resulted in the seizure of approximately 5.4 kilograms of suspected cannabis sativa, a small amount of suspected cocaine, electronic scales, ventilation and lighting equipment, and a pistol-shaped weapon with a compressed gas canister.
Investigations have also revealed that the premises were supplied with electricity illegally, through a direct connection to the distribution network. The prosecution is continuing its actions to fully document the activity and apprehend the wanted person.
