A 63-year-old man has been arrested by police after discovering an environment adapted for the cultivation of narcotic plants in his apartment, in the village of Vadhizë, Fier.
During the search, police found and seized dozens of cannabis plants and seedlings, processed narcotics, hundreds of cannabis seeds, as well as numerous electrical devices used for lighting and heating.
The energy for the operation of these devices was provided through an illegal connection, which also led to the arrest of an OSHEE employee, suspected of abuse of office and favoring criminal activity.
"In the village of Vadhiza in Fier, an environment adapted for the cultivation of narcotic plants has been discovered, where an illegal electricity connection was used to power lamps and other electrical equipment.
During the search of the apartment, 41 cannabis sativa plants, 57 narcotic plant seedlings, a quantity of processed narcotic substance, 784 cannabis seeds, as well as various electrical devices for lighting and heating, including electrical panels, lamps, fans and extractor hoods, were seized.
In this operation, the owner of the apartment, 63-year-old IG, who had organized the cultivation on his premises, was arrested, as well as an OSHEE employee, 61-year-old RM, for abuse of office, as he is suspected of having favored criminal activity by failing to identify the illegal energy connection.
"The collected materials were referred to the Fier Prosecutor's Office for further legal action," the police announced.
