Saimir Sulaj lost his mother, Sanien, in the tragic event of July 25, 2016. She was first treated in the state hospital and then transferred to the American hospital.

"Initially they were in a pavilion in their hospital, I don't know under what conditions and under what circumstances they were transferred from that pavilion and transferred to the military hospital, in the first pavilion the conditions were very good, in the rest a former hospital environment was adapted , with conditions not suitable for hemodialysis", said Saimir Sulaj, the victim's son.

"They had no fire fighting equipment, with some old windows with bars that must have been made since the hospital was built, people were entering and exiting without any control, even I entered, although it is not allowed",   said Saimir Sulaj. the victim's son.

In the confession of the victim's son, between the lines he understands the attempts to keep the event secret from the family members. For hours, they were not informed about the tragic fate of the victims.

"In the pavilion they said that he didn't go to the emergency room, he went to the other hospital for psychological treatment, he shouldn't be in the cafe waiting for the van, the different ways to leave there, they didn't tell the truth. The body has not been seen at all... I don't know which way they sent it to the morgue, but they contacted us and told us to take it there, you had nothing to identify", said Saimir Sulaj, the victim's son.

The incident was investigated at that time by the prosecutor's office. Since the person who set the fire was among the victims, the case was closed. However, the victims lost their lives inside the premises where dialysis was served and the American Hospital had full responsibility for security.

"Like many cases of justice, this was also closed unilaterally, exonerating the hospital. The hospital is responsible for not acting, it did not respect the terms of the contract for hemodialysis" , said Saimir Sulaj, the victim's son.

Sajmir Sulaj, and the other 3 children of the late patient Sanie Sulaj sued the American Hospital. In the lawsuit, after the details of the event are listed, compensation from the private hospital is requested at the end. This, based on the violation of security parameters and criteria of the concession contract.

On the part of the American Hospital, no measures were taken to ensure the lives of the patients and a person with very dangerous combustible materials was allowed to enter the ward. The hospital had the legal obligation to control and supervise the life and health of the patients it had taken for treatment./ InsideStory
