The Month of Love brings to the stage of the National Theatre of Opera, Ballet and Popular Ensemble one of the most beloved works of the world operatic repertoire: Gaetano Donizetti's "L'elisir d'amore". A lyrical comedy full of light, feeling and musical finesse, which returns in full for the Albanian public after a 14-year absence.
This new production offers a contemporary stage reading, relocating the work to a picturesque Mediterranean coastal village, where sea, sun and dreams naturally intertwine with the story of Nemorino's pure and naive love. At the heart of the narrative lies his simple belief that a magic elixir can open Adina's heart – a beautiful metaphor for the human hope to feel loved and chosen.
With the light comedy that characterizes it and the warm romanticism of Donizetti's music, "L'elisir d'amore" remains a hymn to sincere love, to the courage to dream and to the power of feelings that, even when they seem naive, are deeply human.
The production brings together prominent names from the Albanian and international scene, divided into two castes of performers, bringing a variety of artistic temperaments and vocal colors. A special pleasure is the presence of Albanian artists who are shining on the international scene, such as Enkeleda Kamani and Gëzim Myshketa, who give this production a broad professional and artistic dimension.
The role of Adina comes to life through the interpretation of Enkeleda Kamani and Nina Muho, who bring vocal finesse and stage sensitivity, highlighting the free, playful and intelligent spirit of the character.
Galeano Salas and Matteo Mezzaro, in the role of Nemorino, delicately build the figure of the shy, sincere and deeply in love boy.
While Davide Luciano and Artur Vera give Belcore authority, presence and a strong dramatic contrast.
One of the brightest spots of the work, Doctor Dulcamara, is embodied by Gëzim Myshketa and Matteo D'Apolito, with explosive energy, charisma and a sharp sense of humor that enlivens every scene.
Ana Tafani and Greis Shametaj complete the artistic mosaic with their Gianetta full of freshness, charm and elegance.
Directed by Riccardo Canessa, with set design and costumes by Alfredo Troisi, and with the TKOBAP Choir and Orchestra conducted by maestro Jacopo Brusa, this production brings to the stage the vibrancy, optimism and light of Donizetti's music.
“L'elisir d'amore” is not just a love story – it is an invitation to believe, to smile and to remember that, sometimes, the most powerful elixir is love itself. Enjoy it on February 11, 12, 13 and 14.
