For the second year in a row, classical Albanian cinematography is presented to the European public at the prestigious international film festival FESTIVAL LUMIÈRE, in Lyon, France, in the city where cinematography itself was born, in the late 1800s by the Lumière Brothers.
The Central State Film Archive announces that after the presentation of the restored film "Tana" in the 2022 edition, at this year's Festival the curators have selected the film "Tale from the Past" by director Dhimitër Anagnosti (1987) to be shown in its restored version in the Treasures & Curiosities section.
The Treasures & Curiosities program brings 14 little-known or forgotten films from 13 different countries of the world such as: USA, France, Italy, Poland, Albania, South Korea, Madagascar, Portugal, Switzerland, etc., giving the audience a chance to get acquainted with important cinematographic works or to (re)discover moments of film history.
The Lumière Film Festival recognizes film archives around the world for their restoration work, which brings classic cinema to life. All films in this section carry the Lumière Classics label.
The film "Tale from the Past" had 2 screenings: Friday, October 20, at 11:30 a.m. at the Lumiere Institute (Villa) and Saturday, October 21, at 4:45 p.m. at the Opera Cinema.
The restoration of this film was carried out in 2015 at the Hungarian FilmLab studios in Budapest, funded by the Ministry of Culture, a project overseen by the Central State Film Archive.
The restoration of films and their subtitling in foreign languages have been the focus of AQSHF's work for several years now, with the aim of presenting classical Albanian cinematography to the world, recognizing and studying the national film heritage.
