We are in the "Dumani" precedent, but in a different time, where Edi Rama is no longer a lesser evil, but a target to be shot. Rama knows it well, which is why he is in a panic...
In December 2022, Altin Dumani did not find it easy to be elected head of the Special Prosecution Office against Crime and Corruption.
The current head of SPAK won in the second round, after a tough competition with his colleague Ervin Kondili. Who in the first round had received the same number of votes as Altin Duman. The third in the race, Ardian Xholi, received one vote.
In the foreground, it was said that the majority did not like Altin Dumani, and even conducted strong lobbying in the media.
At the last moment, the US ambassador to Tirana, Yuri Kim, went to the vote to show who America supports. Altin Dumanin! And so it happened. This result infuriated Edi Rama, as for the first time he saw himself outside of real influence over the new justice system.
Therefore, Rama dismissed Gladis Nano, whom he had himself appointed as General Director of the State Police, the moment he met Ambassador Yuri Kim, after an important tactical Police operation.
Rama got angry and called Yuri Kim to his office, where he declared her 'Non Grata', and that was the last meeting between them. The message was clear: You took away our justice, I won't leave you the police. And he did.
Since that meeting, relations between Edi Rama and the Americans have been cordial, and much more so. At the moment when Donald Trump won, and for a while there was a temporary suspension of "overseas" programs, Edi Rama said without batting an eyelash that the Americans had left. Which in fact was not exactly the case. It was a message from Rama, not to the Americans, but to SPAK. Who let him know that they did not eat his pressure.
Meanwhile, today, the candidacy of Gladis Nano as head of the National Bureau of Investigation is an American challenge similar to the 'Dumani' precedent.
Did Gledis Nano leave as a result of Edi Rama's anger with the Americans? Rama literally told Yuri Kim that you cannot appoint my police directors. And the Ambassador replied: They are not your directors but Albania's. A first phrase that politically delegitimized Edi Rama.
Meanwhile, today's candidacy, with the Trump administration that Rama has remembered as having abandoned Albania and the Balkans, Gladis Nano has run. A nightmare for Edi. Because if he expresses in some way a position against it, he gives a political signal, if he supports it, he probably signs his hell. In short, we are in the "Dumani" precedent, but in a different time, where Edi Rama is no longer a lesser evil, but a target to be shot. Rama knows it well, so he is in panic. / Pamphlet
