The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, was asked today about the municipality of Himara and who will be in charge of the municipality while the elected mayor Fredi Beleri is in prison, and the acting mayor Jorgo Goro resigned today from detention cell.
Balla stated that the cases of vacancies created in any form are foreseen in the law on the organization of local government.
Regarding the fact that Vangjel Tavo will be the one who will lead this municipality, Balla said that the government will implement the law.
"The law on the organization of local government provides for cases of vacancies created in all forms. The resignation has just happened. Within 48 hours, the prefect notifies the legal governing bodies. The government will implement the law point by point", he said.
The Minister of the Interior said that the Socialist Party does not comment on the justice's decision, after being asked about the SP's position on the arrest of Jorgo Goro.
Balla said after the government meeting that SP supports justice in the fight against corruption and violation of the law.
"Our position is clear, we never comment on justice decisions. Justice has all our support to continue and advance the fight against corruption and violation of the law," said Balla.
