Former manager of the Partizani Club, Paro Laçi, has revealed the behind-the-scenes details of the privatization of the former Partizani complex, by decision of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
While calling the privatization of the Partizani cube a robbery, Laçi also recounted the ordeal of suffering and threats from Berisha's people, who, according to him, asked him to 'shut up' on this issue.
" First of all, it's not that they took over and ran the club, but they robbed the club. During that period when Sali Berisha was killing people, I denounced this massive corruption. I denounced the robbery of the club because we refused to move from one environment to another. We are at war with the police, with rubber batons. That's why I thanked those fans who fought with the police ," Laçi said, among other things, on "Repor TV".
Paro Laçi further stated that he and many other people were persecuted by the Berisha government at the time, over the issue of the privatization of the former Partizani complex.
" Because the police at that time did not even allow children to train in those fields. We fought in the dictatorship of Sali Berisha at that time, in those environments. There are many people and legendary figures of Partizan, who have tried with interviews... Igli Tare's father, Isa Tare, was fought by Sali Berisha. Berisha, through his nephew, Dritan Berisha, took me to prison. He sent me to Italy. I am the only Albanian since 2014 and after that I have been in prison without a trial, convicted in absentia. I am in a trial ordeal. There are several people who have been persecuted by Berisha. Many people from the public ask me 'how is it possible that you are alive?'. Sali Berisha's bodyguard killed and waited for him , "Laçi continued.
But Laçi didn't stop there. He told 'Frontline' that the prosecution at the time had warned him that he was risking his life by speaking out against Sali Berisha's daughter and other members of his family.
Laçi further stated that he had telephone conversations with Shkëlzen Berisha and other people close to him, who promised him 500 thousand euros, in order for him to give up his opposition to the privatization of the former Partizani complex.
For Laçi, there have also been numerous threats from Berisha's people. He said that these threats were also made at police stations, by Berisha's former bodyguards, Erzen Breçani, Agron Kuliçi, etc.
" The prosecution at that time told me that Sali Berisha's daughter is a real danger to your life. 'Paro Laçi, you are risking your life, she is Sali Berisha's daughter', they told me at the prosecution. If I had seen my interests, I would not have written in the newspapers of that time that 'he had promised me 500 thousand euros and I did not accept it'. Sali Berisha's family called me to the police station at that time and the police put pressure on me. They brought Erzen Breçani and arrested me several times. Shkëlzen Berisha offered me 500 thousand euros. I have telephone conversations with him ", concluded Laçi.
We recall that Sali Berisha and his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi are still under investigation for the privatization of the former Partizani complex, where they face several charges brought by SPAK.
