Former Socialist Minister Arben Malaj has commented on the government's recent scandals. Referring to SPAK's announcement of the seizure of assets worth around 40 million euros, related to businessmen Ergys Agasi and Ermal Beqiraj, Malaj stressed that this is not an isolated case.
According to him, there are other issues that indicate serious problems in the government, accusing it of being influenced by oligarchs and organized crime.
Malaj stated that such wealth cannot be created through a job in state administration, calling this a reflection of the current governance model. He also criticized Prime Minister Edi Rama's reaction, considering it inappropriate in relation to the situation.
"Everyone had hope for a better government. Now, 40 million euros, no one has managed to make this wealth with the work of the state. This is the model of governance, the government is captured. Not only by the oligarchs, but also by organized crime. If this news comes out and the prime minister continues to talk, this is irresponsible. He should come here," said Malaj.
Next, the former minister also brought to attention the issue of subsidies in agriculture, describing it as another problem, as according to him, farmers have been penalized, while benefits have been given to other sectors, such as the supply of fuel for luxury vehicles.
In conclusion, Malaj stated that the government has lost public trust and that, according to him, the first solution in this situation remains the resignation of the Prime Minister.
"And at the height of irresponsibility, it takes away fuel and subsidies from farmers while giving yachts diesel at 600 lek per liter. There are several things that the government, if you add them together, has lost public credibility. How to build public credibility, for me, I say again, the first step is the resignation of the prime minister ," he said on News 24.
