Prime Minister Edi Rama has returned this Thursday to Tirana City Hall to participate in the ceremony of decorating the head of the Democratic Union for Integration in North Macedonia, Ali Ahmeti, with the title of "Honorary Citizen" of the capital.
In a ceremony attended by the highest heads of state and former presidents, Edi Rama spoke with superlatives about the figure of Ali Ahmeti, describing him as one of the best Albanians in history.
" Today, Tirana honors an Albanian among the best in Albanian history. A history of great hardships and because of the great powers for whom Albania was a nuisance. I do not believe that there is any other nation that has suffered more from the division among itself. Ali Ahmeti, an Albanian who climbed the mountains of resistance for freedom and rights in Macedonia. But he did not ask for bloodshed with a gun, but put on the agenda the necessity of accepting the Albanians. The weapons on the side of that resistance did not aim at the division of Macedonia, but at its unification under the same banner of the Albanian and Macedonian people. The path opened by Ali Ahmeti was that of a patriotic mission of peace. The guns were not a joke of adventurers, but the statement of the sauce of patience from discriminating disregard. It is still too early to write the story of this Albanian among the best. Ali Ahmeti is the greatest master of using the weapon of diplomacy. Without Ali Ahmet, the Albanians in RMV would not be on their best day ", said Rama.
