Former Minister Arben Malaja has responded remotely to Gary Kokalari, the Albanian-American activist, who yesterday sent a letter to American lobbyists to make Sali Berisha's financing transparent. Malaj writes that Kokalari has only been writing letters all these years and has done nothing else. He also told an episode with him when he was Minister of Finance.

Gary Kokalari has a weak point in his alarming commitments. For me, a lack of integrity and a lack of coherence for his patriotism.
I don't remember if I ever met him as Minister of Finance in the dark year of 1997. I "met" him in 2005 when I won the right to be a Senior Fellow at the Center for Business and Governance at Harvard University. One day, after several aggressive attacks by the DP and Gary, separately as names, but unified in their evil spirit, Gary wrote to the State Department that I and the former Minister of Order, who were accused according to the accusations that he, the DP and many others were making, had been accepted into American universities. With the DP and "Mjaft" I had it easy, but with the American Gary I had to consult.
I asked an American professor at Harvard. The advice was to not bother with it at all. First, because it was protected by the Amendment to the American Constitution. The second reason, according to the American professor, is that guys like Gary who only write papers in hundreds of directions do not enjoy credibility in American institutions.
Gary also makes letters to Congress and the Senate, never tiring of distorting and serving interests that only he knows about or justifies himself.
Without questioning his professional abilities, the evidence is against his over-estimated greatness. The certifying fact is that no letter of Gerry's has created any shock in Albanian politics, much less in global politics.
The hearings against Albania have been held in Congress and the Senate by both Kreshnik Spahia and Erion Veliaj, even together. That is why the people advise politicians: "Never do to others what you do not want others to do to you."
How is it possible that the patriot and anti-corruption leader does not make even a single corrective remark, because it seems that public criticism is not possible towards the current majority. Especially since its institutions, starting from the State Department or the American national security institutions, even during the Democratic presidency, are officially very critical.
Access to the media is easily found. I believe that Albanian-Americans appreciate that their contribution increases proportionally with the number and chronology of deeply 'unbiased' denunciation letters.
Fate has helped me serve my country not with slanderous letters against others, but with reforms.
Enough with the stimulation of 'letter writers' whenever it only serves personal purposes.
Enough with the contemptuous politics towards our country, let alone in foreign chancelleries from every individual and political force. They have dedicated offices and deep expertise for analyzing developments within political parties and between politicians and political parties.
Even the serious accusations and mutual contemptuous slander between Konica and Fan Noli did not benefit either of them, much less Albania.
