Former President of the Republic, Bamir Topi, has made a strong statement, saying that Edi Rama and Sali Berisha have been cooperating with each other for years.
While expressing support for the Prime Minister's initiative to reduce the number of MPs, Topi said that a large portion of lawmakers have no function, other than what he described as 'raising their hands to signal'.
"Despite the fact that it is read differently in public, but also because 2/3 of the votes are needed for constitutional changes, I see that Rama-Berisha will continue their cooperation in public, because underground they cooperate. This is noted by many people that we discuss in close conversations, but also by many analysts that I listen to in the studio. It is not necessary that these individuals meet physically, but they have communication channels.
One is confident with what he has in the opposition, while the other knows how far he can go and is satisfied with that. The changes that are expected to come are not as important as the changes of 2008. First, about reducing the number of deputies. I would support it. Rama is not the first voice to speak about reducing the number of deputies. I support it. Many people in the majority like reducing the number of deputies in Parliament.
"It is a parliament that even if you bring it up today with 60 deputies, nothing changes. There you have deputies who do nothing, but sit and raise their hands with a signal, with a message. They are more ordinary than the traffic police. The traffic police are under stress from that large number of cars in a place where there are no traffic lights, while they put a cold mind in them and have brought the Parliament to its darkest day ," Topi said, among other things, on the 'Frontline' show.
Returning to the discussion with Berisha, Topi added that the leader of the Democrat Party has over 1,000 communication channels with Prime Minister Rama.
"Rama will not let anything go. Berisha's stoicism is now folkloric. He is the man who cooperates the most with the prime minister. There are 1000 communication channels, from the way politics will be done, the way we will appear in public, the way we will reach common solutions and in the end it boils down to the ease of doing business. The need to hide makes them be together ," Topi continued.
