While announcing his candidacy to run in the party's internal elections, Ervin Salianji stated that he aims for a radical transformation of the opposition, starting from changing the political narrative and the party's structure itself.
In an interview for the show 'TëPashoq' on the 'Pamflet' YouTube channel, Salianji promised to bring the Democratic Party to power if he manages to win as mayor in the May elections.
Excerpt from the interview:
-So, if you always come to lead the Democratic Party, the latter will be in power, directly?
Ervin Salianji : Yes, absolutely. I say that I make every effort, changing the Democratic Party, changing the narrative of the Democratic Party, proposing what I told you, 100% open lists, demanding a referendum, opening the party, uniting the party towards people who are dissatisfied, giving new hope to the right-wing electorate, but also to society, changing the political language. I do not make baseless accusations. They are connected, I say, to Al Capone, I say, where do I know, they are connected to Pol Pot, they are connected to ISIS, where do I know. Find out what else is there, what are the extremes at all and take it too... How can these accusations be made? How can you say, that you can say anything. If you say that I have, what interest do I have in the Socialist Party? I have, I only have... that... the feeling that a person has. I only have the anger that I want them to leave as soon as possible. Personal, first. Secondly, it is imperative for Albania that Edi Rama leaves as soon as possible, because 1 million Albanians have left. Here, instead of dealing with concrete things, why doesn't the Democratic Party deal with the price of oil today?
