MP Albana Vokshi and Parliament Speaker Elisa Spiropali had a debate during the plenary session in Parliament today.
Democrat Albana Vokshi accused Spiropali of not doing or saying anything about the threats she and her family received on election day, May 11, at a polling station in Vora.
Vokshi stated that no citizen of Vora voted freely because of the gangs that the socialists had placed there. In her reply, Spiropali described Vokshi's statements as slander, while accusing the opposition of treating the people like sheep.
Excerpts from the debate:
Albana Vokshi: Elisa didn't say a word about the intimidation and threats that were made to me and my family on election day in Vora, she just went there as if nothing had happened.
The resolution that was adopted a few days ago by 109 parties of the CDI, what the resolution said: we express deep concern that the findings of international observation missions raise deep concern that these elections were a political farce.
Voters faced systematic pressure, says CDI. The report says the criminal structure did not allow rotation. Freedom of expression was violated.
There was no dividing line between the party and the state. Misuse of public resources, thousands of administration employees were forced to engage in the campaign through a network of patronage.
In Vora, the network was well-organized and with a bag, every voter in Vora was violated in their right to vote freely. I submitted 10 days before the elections, I reported by name all the members of the Xhabaft gangs, where was the police? Every voter in Vora was alone in front of a criminal gang.
Spiropali: You are slandering, you are fabricating in my name. Perhaps you and the one you have on your side have acquaintances with people that I do not know by face or name. You consider people sheep, fools.
You cannot use my name personally, you cannot slander me. As long as you have this language, this approach, even there in Brussels, you shamelessly speak with the language of those who historically do not even dare to speak about Albania in that way.
This is the last time I will answer you and the Albanian citizens have given you the answer with their votes. May God forgive you for not knowing what you are doing out there on the streets of the world, but the people know very well what you are doing and have not forgiven you.
