The fight for the mandates of the deputies for Tirana resumes, the CEC recounts the ballot boxes
All ballot boxes in the Tirana district will be recounted at the request of two DP members on the Complaints and Sanctions Commission.
The decision was made today, even though the DP's request was rejected by a majority vote by the KAS, but the Democrats have requested, according to the right granted by the Code, that the ballot boxes be reopened throughout Tirana, in all polling centers.
1282 polling stations throughout the Tirana region will be recounted, for parties and candidates, with the aim of finding evidence for the DP's claims.
"Regarding the request for the inspection of ballot boxes for the Tirana region, the KAS rejects it by a majority vote, but at the request of two KAS members, the inspection of ballot boxes for the Tirana region will be carried out. Since this process takes time, given that there are 1200 VCs, the date for the start of this process will be determined at a later time, where political parties have the right to appoint observers, while the process will be inspected by the CEC administration, so this session is suspended for the time being," said Braho.
At today's KAS meeting, it was announced that at the request of two members of the commission, the opening of the ballot boxes for Tirana has been decided.
"Today, the KAS began the review of the appeal request no. 48, dated 29.05.2025, filed by the Democratic Party - Alliance for a Greater Albania Coalition with the subject matter: "1. Objection to Decision No. 1326, dated 24.05.2025, of the SEC "On the approval of the Summary Table of Voting Results in the Tirana District electoral zone, for electoral subjects and candidates for deputies in the elections for the Assembly of May 1, 2025". 2. Invalidity of the elections held on May 11, 2025 in the Tirana District electoral zone. 3. Resolution of the consequences by ordering the repetition of the elections for the Assembly of Albania in the entire Tirana District electoral zone.
By majority vote, KAS rejected the request of the DP-ASHM Coalition for the inspection of ballot boxes for the Tirana region.
Also, based on article 136, point 3 of the Electoral Code, members Mr. Elvis Çefa and Mr. Ledio Braho requested that the ballot boxes for the Tirana region be inspected. Taking into account that this process requires time for logistics preparation, the start of this process will be announced at a later date," KAS announced.
