The head of the Euro-Atlantic Democrats group, Lulzim Basha, has accused Prime Minister Rama that the connection of power with organized crime is the reason he continues to stay in power.
Basha says that the connections with the gangs of Durrës and Elbasan alienated the result of the 2021 elections.
In a video published on Facebook from Rama's interview with VOA where he is asked about Jurgis Çyrbjan, Basha emphasizes that Rama's mandate is a product of these connections, which, according to him, have seriously damaged the democratic processes in the country.
He describes the separation of politics from crime as a national emergency and for this reason he has submitted a draft law on vetting in politics to the Parliament.
"Cleaning politics from ties to crime is the first step to build a true democracy", said Basha, inviting citizens to support this initiative on May 11 for a better future for Albania.
According to him, only a politics cleansed of crime can ensure the rule of law, economic development and the well-being of citizens.
"An irresponsible and undeserved power produces such nonsense as this "washing of hands" towards the exclusive duty of the prime minister and the chairman of the ruling party, to prevent organized crime from entering its soldiers into Parliament with the signature of Edi Rama.
It is already a fact that Edi Rama's mandate itself is a product of Durrës gangs, it is also a fact that, thanks to the criminals of Elbasan in the service of the prime minister, the result of the 2021 elections was alienated, to protect a corrupt government, which it does not serve the citizens, but the crime.
Albania does not deserve this irresponsibility, much less the symbiotic relationship between this power and crime, which has destroyed democratic processes. Separating politics from crime is a national emergency, that's why I submitted the law on vetting to the Parliament of Albania, as a necessary mechanism to clean up politics and remove any alibi from those who pretend they don't know what the duties of his.
Clearing politics of dark ties to crime is the first step to creating a true democracy, where the vote is respected and the individual has a voice in decision-making.
On May 11, I invite you to vote to support the vetting initiative, blocked by Edi Rama, to give Albania the possibility of a better future, where the rule of law triumphs, where the economy grows and where politics it only serves the citizens and their well-being. Albania deserves a lot", writes Basha.
