The chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, held a special meeting with President Bajram Begaj this Monday.
The sources have announced that the discussion lasted for about an hour, while the topic of the conversation was the electoral reform as well as the proposals for changing the electoral law.
So far, Basha has proposed a national proportional system with open lists where the names that receive the most votes from voters will be listed first.
Another proposal is vetting in politics with the same format as was realized with the Justice system.
Basha has also requested the transition to the election of the president by the people. The meeting comes at a time when the Electoral Reform Commission has not made any decisions for two years, even though the OSCE and ODIHR have given recommendations for both the Parliamentary elections of 2021 and the local elections of May 2023.
Another topic of discussion was the choice of Basha as a KIE reporter for Ukraine and Russia's crimes in the military attack that has lasted for 19 months.
