Prime Minister Edi Rama in the opening speech of the Berlin summit that is being held today in Tirana expressed the need for the introduction of Albania and other countries of the Western Balkans into the European Union.
Furthermore, in front of the EU leaders, the head of the Albanian government emphasized that some of the promises of the Berlin Summit have not been fully realized.
" I feel really good that we remember that common journey started by Angela Merkel, some of you are from the EU and some of you are from E without B. and yet all of us strongly believe today the need for a common roof and even a trench in these sforce times that seem to get worse before they get better, there is a regime that has forced an independent country to defend its own country, Europe is changing much faster and differently, there is a devastating attack against Israel that has forcing another democratic nation to defend itself.
Different views of the world are creating divisions between democratic communities, the question is how are we reacting to this scene while we are united against Russia, are we scrambling an answer to what our community is facing, all of us who represent Europe the division painful between EU members and non-EU members, living without the EU is not easy, the challenge is intensifying compared to EU counterparts, I don't want to point the finger but raise some questions, can we afford these divisions as we did a few years ago before?
Over the course of 9 years, we have witnessed countless meetings, and we have also become sponsors of our initiatives such as Open Balkan, which would have been inconceivable without the Berlin process. We owe it to countries like France and Australia that have been champions of this initiative. The introduction of this spirit of combination into the spirit of the region is a major achievement of the Berlin process. I have to emphasize that the concrete promises of the Berlin process have not been fully realized ", said Rama.
