The Democratic Party has signed a lobbying contract worth $250,000 per month, for two years, with a firm in Washington, DC, which will cost a total of $6 million over 24 months.
The contract, which has already been published in the media, also provides a series of details about what the number 2 of the DP, Flamur Noka, negotiated with the company Continental Strategy and former advisor to President Trump, Carlo Trujillo, in his capacity as President of 'Continental Strategy'.
One of the company's executives is Katie Wiles, the daughter of Susie Wiles, who served as President Trump's 2024 campaign manager and a close associate of Chris LaCivita. The Blue House officially announced yesterday that it will not be paid for by the party itself, but by the "Make Albania Great Again" foundation, an organization created by the Albanian-American community.
Analyst Kreshnik Spahiu explained in "Top Story" what violations the Democratic Party committed in this case.
" A political party in Albania cannot be funded by foreign entities. 'Make Albania Great Again' is a US-funded entity."
The second is that you cannot take more than 10 thousand dollars from abroad.
The total funding that a political party receives from private entities cannot exceed 5 times the amount received from the state.
There are two types of liability. Administrative and criminal. Administrative liability, based on the electoral code, the party that has crossed the limits is fined 500 thousand new lek. If the DP does not withdraw from this contract, it is called criminal liability and is punished with up to 6 months in prison. The DP is currently under administrative liability.
I'm taking the case of Lulëzim Basha. For Basha, the prosecution has dismissed the case because there is no money laundering, because money laundering is buying material goods and cleaning money obtained in dirty ways. A photo with Trump does not constitute a criminal offense, the prosecution has reasoned ," says Spahiu.
