"Berisha plays Rama's game", Nurellari: Only in Albania does it

The Albanian Parliament was constituted on Friday, in a session that was not without tensions and protests from opposition MPs.

Analyst Adri Nurellari has considered the opposition's actions as excessive and has accused its leadership of repeating the mistakes of the past. During an interview on 'Shtypi i tëtës me ju' on Report TV, Nurellari said that the opposition has entered its fourth legislature and its behavior is the same.

"It's an ugly 'deja vu' and a testament to political sterility, mainly of the opposition. Logic says that when a strategy doesn't work, you have to change it. One of the stupid definitions that is perhaps unfairly attributed to Einstein is that when you do the same thing twice wrong, you can't expect different consequences. It's like watching a movie for the umpteenth time and hoping that the protagonist doesn't die at the end. This is the fourth time and the opposition is a 'deja vu' where we are entering the fourth legislature and the behavior is the same, and this is disappointing," he declared.

Nurellari accused the opposition of playing Rama's game and making deals with the prime minister. He further accused the opposition leadership of keeping its supporters under illusions and of taking benefits from Rama.

"Because that's how it benefits the prime minister. They are positioned in the poles and for this opposition to be useful to the prime minister it must play a destructive role. The current opposition leadership uses it as an instrument to show supporters that we are tough and rude, which is a real hypocrisy, that when it comes to it, they make deals in the middle of the night for electoral reforms, or for amnesty. On the other hand, Rama needs this opposition, as it shows the Westerners and his own supporters that if we are not excellent, we do not keep our promises, but they are worse than us.

In a way, they are a form of symbiosis, since there is opposition in Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, and Russia. Let's take Russia, Putin has had two opposition opponents, nationalists and communists. They used harsh and pompous rhetoric, but they served Putin, because he said that there is no one better than me. While Putin has killed the real opponents.

So, let's take the local campaign, Rama didn't need to propose anything. He didn't come out in Tirana with the face of the candidate, but with the faces of Meta and Berisha, which were enough to mobilize his own supporters.

"The leadership of the position actually benefits from this, as they keep their citizens under illusions and thus do Rama's job properly, and Rama throws some 'cobweb', some deal or building permit," said Nurellari.

The analyst also emphasized that only in Albania does it happen that an opposition MP is rich and owns villas.

"It is total degradation, there is no genuine pluralism, there is no competition and rivalry. We have an opposition that blocks energies and creates illusions that the country has an opposition, when in fact the country does not have an opposition. When Rama gets something big in Parliament, the opposition forces are ready to give it to him in exchange for something. Only in Albania does it happen that you are an opposition MP and you are rich, or have villas on the coast. Why does this happen? Because you made a deal. This year this has decreased, after Mr. Rama secured a majority in Parliament.

So we have a kind of masquerade, where the prime minister has concentrated all political powers and it can be compared to 1991, the last year of the Labor Party."

As for the reduction in the number of female MPs to 101 in Parliament, Nurellari stated that it is all a show by the government to divert attention from real problems.

"It is the fashion or strategy of this government to draw attention to peripheral things. Throw a stone in the river and we all deal with it and divert attention from the main things such as abandoning the country, which has to do with the failure to meet basic needs. So it's all a show," Nurellari concluded.
