Analyst Ben Andoni criticizes the process in the Democratic Party and questions respect for the statute.
Analyst Ben Andoni commented on developments in the Democratic Party, where after the disqualification of Mereme Sela and Vladimir Muja, Sali Berisha remains the only candidate for president.
During an interview with News24, he assessed that the process does not meet the standards of a real competition. "People who deal with the interpretation of the DP statute are not interested in this party having normal elections and elections are made to be made and the same thing happens in the SP. Mr. Berisha is the most well-known historical character after the '90s, but at least he should make this competition normal and this today is not called a competition because the statute is not respected. Mr. Noka is also making a big mistake," he said.
Andoni stressed the importance of the statute as a basic document for the functioning of the party and raised doubts about the legitimacy of the current leadership. "The statute is the Constitution and Berisha should not be the leader of the DP today," he said.
He also brought to attention the previous positions of the DP regarding the electoral processes, emphasizing a discrepancy with the current developments. "The DP, since May 26, 2025, has said throughout its speech that the elections were a farce and has said that all violations will be channeled into all international laws. But today, a series of collaborations have been made. People within the DP do not want us to see the developments that have occurred. The Statute is the Constitution and that Berisha should not be the leader of the DP," he said.
In his analysis, he also focused on the general situation of the party and the role of leadership.
"The DP is in the lowest quotas, but Mr. Berisha is interested in this because he is interested in maintaining his myth. Even during the time of Enver Hoxha, it was said that if Enver leaves, who will lead Albania? It must be said that the country has continuity and heritage and we should let the party structures provide elements. Argita Malltezi may be very good for your clicks, but to be at the head of a party you have to know the country," he said.
Andoni added that internal developments in the DP require reflection and openness towards new figures in the leadership structures.
