Enkelejd Alibeaj, one of the founders of the "Djathtas 1912" party, has spoken in "Te Pashoq" about this initiative undertaken together with other deputies who left the Democratic Party.
He has shown who is behind it and what awaits in 2025? Alibeaj shows what happens behind the scenes of the Berisha-Basha war and the relationship with the latter today.
At the time when Lulzim Basha was the chairman of the Democratic Party, in the shadows, almost everyone knew that the de facto chairman was Sali Berisha. You share the same opinion, have you ever made this fact clear to Basha?
Alibeaj: I remind you that I left the Democratic Party in 2012 when Berisha was in the government. I was a deputy, I had a clash with the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, who was Prime Minister at the time. For this reason, I was no longer representative as a deputy in 2013-2017. I saw it as a good opportunity in 2015, as a need in fact to grow the Democratic Party, crushed after 2013.
I ran for mayor in Fier in 2015. I never agreed with the duality of the DP leadership, however I understood that passing the baton required a process, that is, it required time. I did not agree with one of the cases of mandate burning in 2019 and if this was a decision that would be taken, I told Lulzim Basha that if he takes this decision, he will have to do the math well if it will be successful and to bear responsibility.
I never had personal relations with Berisha because he said at that time that I am not the chairman of the Democratic Party but Lulzim Basha. This is the attitude I have had, but the political direction has been divided and time reveals everything.
The big decisions, whether it was about burning the mandates and not participating in the territorial administrative reform, was a decision influenced by him, despite the fact that she was not in the position as she had the suggestive ability and it seems to have resulted in a failure.
Have you received congratulations from the ranks of Berisha or from Basha's group?
Alibeaj: Yes, there were people from Basha's group and they congratulated me. "How well you did", they told me.
