From the streets of Tirana, the opposition protest will move to the doors of the European Parliament.
About 30 democratic deputies, among them also those whom the Parliament of Albania has closed the door to, will travel to Strasbourg on October 23 with a specific mission.
" In the contacts that I have had in several European parliaments, I have noticed that there is a lot of information about political developments in Albania and developments in the opposition. I proposed to travel to Strasbourg where the European Parliament meets. We have confirmed several meetings with MEPs and senior EP functionaries , "said Gjekmarkaj.
The Democrats have coordinated a lobbying campaign with the EU parliamentarians, where they will also knock on the door of David McAllister, a very good connoisseur of Albanian crises, who in 2017 managed to solve the DP tent crisis.
Agron Gjekmarkaj, who holds the authorship of the idea put forward in the democratic parliamentary group, in an interview for Top Channel, explains the details of what is expected to happen next week in Strasbourg.
" We will tell them what is happening in Albania, about the pressure on the opposition, specifically the arrest of Berisha, Salianj or the legal consequences that fall on other leaders of the opposition such as Ilir Meta and Fatmir Mediu ", added Gjekmarkaj.
The agenda of the democrats is divided into two parts, a group of MPs has the mission of raising the awareness of European Parliament officials, while others will protest outside the doors of supporters from the diaspora.
