The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, criticized the government during the meeting of the DP Parliamentary Group, focusing on the difficult situation the country is in, as a result of the recent floods and fires that have previously engulfed Albania.
Berisha said that the new year has started with great expectations from Albanian citizens and international partners for a final solution to the political and institutional crisis in the country.
According to him, Albania, although a member of NATO and with claims for integration into the European Union, is led by an irresponsible government steeped in corruption.
Referring to the floods, the DP leader said that numerous areas of the country, from Gjirokastra to Shkodra and especially the Durrës region, faced floods of unprecedented proportions. He accused the government of continuing with trips and festive activities while thousands of homes were flooded.
"We are starting a year where all Albanians and friends of Albania expect from the DP and the Albanian opposition the solution to the dramatic situation in Albania. The final solution to this situation, which like no other country, a NATO member country, claims to be moving towards the EU, is proven before the citizens and the whole world by an irresponsible clique, a criminal organization that steals day and night from its citizens.
Albanians started this year in many areas of the country from Gjirokastra to Shkodra, but especially in the Durrës region, in a flood of unprecedented proportions. In the waters that flooded thousands of homes from north to south, the rotten morale of this government was also flooded. Albanians saw that the partying and traveling continued, while the waters increased every day in their homes.
Albanians saw with their own eyes the real causes of this drama they suffered. Every country has an infrastructure against floods and in the national security law, the emergency against natural disasters has an absolute priority. Albania was burned like no other in its history, the satellites of Pelesh filled Rama's pockets. The satellites were blinded by corruption," said Berisha.
