Democratic leader Sali Berisha, at the meeting of the DP Parliamentary Group, addressed a message to the Democrats, explaining the reason why opposition MPs will enter the Assembly and receive mandates, even though they do not recognize the election results on May 11.
Berisha said that if the opposition did not enter the Assembly, Edi Rama would celebrate.
"We understand these democrats who have highly developed political instincts, integrity, and think that we are making a serious mistake by entering Parliament. I invite them to stop at a fundamental moment, and that we democrats, unfortunately, do not take into account at all."
The devastating effect of censorship on us.
In this context, I say on your behalf to the democrats, who were heartbroken by yesterday's decision of the presidency, that our presence in parliament, being their voice, is absolutely, in the conditions of the darkness of the narco-dictatorship, of vital importance in my assessment for the realization of our goals.
And I guarantee you, dear friends who follow us and who have sent me messages, that Edi Rama would be celebrating tonight if we had decided not to be in parliament.
But I do not ignore any of the reasons and causes you list for not being in parliament.
But there is always a hierarchy in causes and effects, and you are forced to judge based on their hierarchy.
I say to these friends of ours, with great respect, that whether we like it or not, the main media outlet is the parliament.
It is a mirror, so if we want to close this mirror to the opposition, and in my deepest conviction - maybe I am wrong because I am not infallible - we would make a mistake with very serious consequences for the opposition.
So, it's a very big deal.
Democrats, you must never forget that dictatorships have no more powerful weapon than censorship and the information darkness into which they plunge society.
Take the news from the mainstream media, ask those who are older than you if these national media outlets are any different from the dictatorship's television, which starts with the arrival of a certain prince's yacht, events that have nothing to do with Albanian citizens. Not with their lives, not with their salaries, not with their pensions, nothing. They only have the gloss of the narco-dictator.
"Therefore, despite the difficulties of that decision, it would be, for me, I tell you here, extremely consequential for the opposition in the very difficult battle it has to achieve its goal," said Berisha.
