The political battle in Washington leaves Albania without an American ambassador, will the Senate reflect on David Kostelancik tomorrow?

Albania has been without an American ambassador for nearly a year and a half. Yuri Kim has been gone since June 2023 and her successor has been blocked dozens of times.

President Biden has nominated David Kostelancik for Albania. Although it has appeared twice in the Foreign Affairs Committee, the vote in the plenary session in the Senate has dragged on for more than a year and a half. This is because of the political battle between republics and democrats. Republicans have the majority in the Senate and they have blocked the nomination of many figures, including the nominee for our country.

Two weeks ago, there was intense debate in the Senate, as Sen. Jeanne Shahwn of Hampshire filed a motion of support to approve the nomination, saying that his 35 years of experience make Kostelancik the right candidate to serve as U.S. Rep. in Albania.

The American senator added that while China and Russia have ambassadors in Albania, the Senate should not delay in acting.

Jeanne Shahwne's seconding motion was rejected by Utah Senator Mike Le who said that Mr. David Kostelancik cannot represent the United States in a diplomatic mission because of his experience in Hungary. Le accused Kostelancik of being involved in Hungarian politics by attacking media freedom and engaging in social activism. The senator is known for his support for Orban.

But Kostelancik's name has been put on the agenda again. According to the calendar that "Pamphlet" has provided, it is planned in the agenda for the next day. It remains to be seen if there will be any reflection on the part of the senators, or if it will continue to be passed in silence without touching it as an issue.

The absence of the American ambassador is felt in Albanian politics. The situation is heated, while justice is under pressure. The EU ambassador is trying to take control of the situation, but he does not have the influence that an American ambassador has.
