Democratic Party MP and co-chair of the Territorial Reform Commission, Luciano Boçi, has reacted harshly to the Socialist Party's initiative to change the composition formula of this Commission, calling on the majority to withdraw from the attempt to secure a majority.
In a statement to the media outside the Parliament, Boçi stressed that the SP's insistence on dominating the Commission makes the presence of opposition representatives in this process meaningless. According to him, if the majority does not give up the initiative, the DP no longer sees any reason to continue participating in the Commission.
He also raised concerns about the way the Commission operates, noting that the secretary has not yet been elected and that decision-making is bypassing the principle of co-management.
Boçi requested that the two co-chairs of the Commission sit together to elect the secretary and agree on the meeting calendar, in a consensual manner.
" If the SP does not withdraw and obtains a majority, then we have no reason to remain in the Commission. The two chairmen must meet, elect the secretary together, and decide together on the dates of the meetings ," said Boçi.
His statement adds to the political tensions surrounding the Territorial Reform, a process that the opposition wants to be developed on the basis of consensus and not the imposition of a parliamentary majority.
