Prime Minister Edi Rama together with the representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borell, held a press conference.
During his speech, Borrell clarified the meeting with Rama where they talked about a series of worrying issues, not only for the Western Balkan region but also for the EU.
Borrell said that Albania has made progress towards the path of the European Union, as he further thanked Prime Minister Edi Rama for the efforts that the latter has made to ease the situation in the north of Kosovo.
He emphasized that everyone has lost patience and demanded immediate measures to prevent the escalation of the situation between Kosovo and Serbia.
" I am happy to see that Albania has made progress in its progress towards the EU with the negotiations. The process relies heavily on the support and commitment of the government, which I emphasized in the discussion with Rama that we must cooperate with all interest groups at this critical moment essential for Albania's EU membership. I am happy to see that Albania has been in harmony with the EU policy on security policy for restrictive measures in line with our values and has made the country a very good partner. I am aware that this position makes Albania a target, but it is important that Albania will always have the support of the EU.
We have also discussed the dialogue for peace in Pristina and I thank you Prime Minister for your efforts and commitments to find a solution and I have made it clear that it is the position that the parties must find a way to document the escalation of the situation and approve the confessional warrant that has been put on the table. We are sure that this situation requires us to take measures quickly and the member states agree with this and have lost patience before this situation and it requires immediate intervention. Thank you again prime minister and you are with us here and are sharing your support for the dialogue to resolve the situation in Pristina" , said Borrell.
