Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced to pensioners that in addition to the year-end bonus in December, from January 2026 there will be a month-by-month increase above the annual indexation.
He says that the government has submitted the draft budget for 2026 to the Assembly, adding that starting in January, pensions will increase every month.
"Last night we submitted the 2026 budget to the assembly. I am happy to tell pensioners today that as we pledged in the elections, this mandate will be the mandate of annual pension increases. This is the most difficult part of a country's financial policy, pensions. But finally, precisely because we are no longer the country that was barely standing, we are a country with a stable economy, we can do what we pledged to do. To increase pensions year after year according to the announced objectives for each category. This December they will receive the bonus, starting from January they will have an increase spread out month by month, above the annual indexation.
According to categories. At the end of the mandate, we must achieve that the average pension increases as follows, urban to go to 40 thousand new lekë from 27 thousand and 350 lekë that is today, partial urban to go to 22 thousand lekë from 15,800 lekë today, rural pension with full years 18 thousand lekë from 11,500 lekë today, family pension will go to 18 thousand lekë from 11,400 lekë today, invalid pension will increase to 30 thousand lekë from 20 thousand lekë today. Therefore, from January 2026, pensions will increase every month as follows, beyond the old indexation which will be another thing , "said Rama.
