The chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has commented on Arben Ahmetaj's statements about the incinerators and the accusations he made against Prime Minister Rama and Veliaj.
He said that Ahmetaj refused to be the scapegoat and that was the reason he chose to leave, but according to him this was not the right way.
Meta adds that Ahmetaj's testimony caused a stir after he told the former deputy prime minister of the country, who according to him may be the last person who has a hand in this affair.
"It is in the tradition of Dushan Mugosha's party and the open Balkans to declare internal enemies by branding them in the service of someone else. From that interview it was clearly understood that Ahmetaj was not accused of the violations that he committed independently, but that he condemned in the first place at the meeting of the Party Presidency with that expression that I cannot say here, but he said it to remain faithful to the truth that happened in the Presidency meeting.
I have not had any special relationship with this gentleman, I have had close relationships with Rama in the past. About the incinerators, what Ahmetaj says today, you heard it yourself, but I have been talking about the incinerators for a long time, I have made reports, some of those who have been convicted are precisely from those facts.
Ahmetaj refused to be the scapegoat and that's why he chose that path, but in my opinion it was wrong, but he was threatened with his life. What he said is not new, but it comes as new after he testified as the government's No. 2 for 10 years, who made it clear that he had no role in my opinion on this issue, he may be the last, the prime minister and the mayor are the first", said Meta during a meeting from Korça.
