
The voting process for the election of the Democratic Party leader began this morning. Voting centers have opened in several regions of the country, including Elbasan, Korça, Shkodra and Tirana, while Democrats will head to the ballot boxes until 6:00 PM.
Only Sali Berisha is in the running for the leadership of the Democratic Party. According to local party structures, the process has so far proceeded normally and no incidents or problems have been reported.
In the Elbasan region, voting is taking place in all seven municipalities. In the Elbasan branch of the Democratic Party, around 1,115 members are expected to vote, while in Gramsh, 784 members with the right to vote have been registered. In Peqin, the number of voters reaches around 500, while in Belsh there are 1,073 members.
The process has also started normally in the Korça region. According to the data, there are about 11 thousand members with the right to vote in Korça, Maliq, Pogradec, Devoll and Kolonjë. In the Korça branch, members of the Pustec municipality are also voting.
Until the early hours of the morning, there was no high influx of voters, but DP exponents say that participation is expected to increase throughout the day. After the closing of the process at 18:00, the counting of votes is expected to begin.
