On the eve of the election of the new leader of the Democratic Party, debates within the opposition have intensified due to the lack of competition.
Alesia Balliu, who was not allowed to run for the leadership of the Democratic Party, has made strong accusations against Sali Berisha. She stated that the process for electing the leader is a farce and that the Democratic Party is losing the opportunity to become an alternative government.
"Tomorrow is a black day for the DP, but also for all Albanians. I am losing hope that the Democratic Party can be a governing alternative," she said.
According to Balliu, the party's doors are closed to the Democrats and its direction is being controlled solely by Berisha.
"Sali Berisha has turned the DP into private property. The doors of the DP are closed ," she declared.
Balliu also commented on Berisha's relationship with SPAK, criticizing the attacks that the democratic leader has made against the Special Prosecution Office.
"What kind of model do you expect when the leader of the opposition takes a piece of paper and attacks SPAK," she said during the interview.
She warned that the battle for the leadership of the Democratic Party will continue, also mentioning the name of Ervin Salianj.
"Salianji and I will continue the battle to take over the Democratic Party. We will not stop and we will not back down," Balliu declared for "Abc News".
