The leader of the Democratic Party and the "Alliance for a Greater Albania" coalition, Sali Berisha, was on "Now" on Euronews Albania yesterday evening to comment on the electoral campaign, but also expectations for the May 11 elections.
Berisha said he is optimistic that “Albanians will be separated from their evil,” referring to the government led by Prime Minister Edi Rama. He also said that the resolution proposed by the DP and adopted by the European People’s Parties was the same as the ODIHR’s preliminary report on the elections, adding that he will continue with pre-campaign meetings with very important delegations so that Albania’s problems are highlighted before the elections.
"The resolution is in line with the ODIHR report. There has never been such a strong report. Most of the ODIHR recommendations have not been implemented. This system is anti-democratic. I will have meetings again. Much more powerful delegations will come. Very important delegations from the European Parliament and the Council of Europe will come. They will come before the elections.
"Organizing a hearing during an electoral campaign is very rare. It was organized once before for the Dushk phenomenon in 2002 and another one was organized for Ahmed Masud of Afghanistan. We put the country's problems in the spotlight, we achieved it and I am very optimistic that this is a strong support for Albanians to separate themselves from their evil," said Berisha.
