Former Interior Minister Dritan Demiraj has reacted with strong criticism of the current state of the Democratic Party and its leadership, calling for a complete reformation of the leadership and openness to new figures. According to him, the disappointing result of the last elections clearly shows that the DP needs a deep analysis and bold decisions.
" The opposition has come from a series of repeated mistakes over the last eight years. I cannot say whether they were intentional or not, but they have caused serious damage. This situation has also been influenced by the intervention of Edi Rama, who has divided the opposition through the appointments and support of certain individuals ," Demiraj said on "A2 CNN".
He suggests to Sali Berisha to immediately remove the political leaders of the regions that have lost, as a first step for internal reformation. " The DP should open the door and invite people with integrity, professionals and intellectuals from every field. It is not normal that for 35 years the same figures appear on the electoral lists ," he added.
Demiraj stressed that restoring public trust cannot come without real changes and a departure from old schemes that have produced losses and divisions. He remains optimistic that the DP can regain the strength to be politically reborn, but only if it faces the truth and takes responsibility.

Ne se paska qene Minister i Brendshem i Berishes ky duhet varur. Me duket se ky qen leh andej nga Amelika e ben fillozofin, analistin e trimin. Ik mer karabushn i pa fytyre. Ne je burre hajde ne Shqiperi. Eh, c'them dhe une muter si ky shkaterruan Shqiperine e eshte me mire te rrine e te hane mut atje ku jane.
