Opposition leader Sali Berisha, in a statement to the media, said that the former mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, is in severe isolation conditions in prison.
He stated that Veliaj is not allowed to meet with anyone and that there are rumors that he has been hit, and even that there have been other attempts against him.
Berisha stressed that, despite Veliaj “deserving of the charges against him,” the situation constitutes a violation of human rights. He accused the authorities of a total lack of transparency and of staging the event.
"Everything is under review, there is no decision of any kind. First, it was established who imprisoned Erion Veliaj, and for what purposes they imprisoned him. We have no regrets, Erion Veliaj deserves it 100 times over. Those accusations and another much bigger mountain should have weighed on him."
But on the other hand, the violation of all the basic norms of human rights. You understand that no one can meet him there. No one meets him.
You heard, it is said that they hit him, not to mention other attempts, with food and without food, things, when there is no transparency, and now he was acting like an ignorant person.
"The one who organizes everything said, 'Do this and that.
' So, that's it," said Berisha.
