Is Rama trying to play with two goals?
Although Prime Minister Edi Rama was careful to keep it a secret, photos and details from Alex Soros' wedding were leaked to the public. The head of government locked down Parliament and fled to the US two days before the wedding, while being treated like a member of the Soros family.
Since Trump's victory, Rama has been careful not to advertise his friendship with George Soros' son. It is known that they are enemies of Trump and the latter does not like those who flirt "here and there". Rama has avoided photos with Soros and meetings since Trump's victory. Even when the EU summit was held in Tirana, Soros was absent, although he does not let such opportunities slip away.
But at the beginning of June, rumors were circulating in the political corridors that Rama would travel to the US, and ' Pamphlet ' was the first to reveal that in fact the head of government would go not to meet local officials, but to be present at the coronation of his "brother", Alex Soros.
Rama himself kept it a secret. There are no photos or congratulatory messages on social media from him. Likewise, Alex himself has not shared any photos from the ceremony, preserving the anonymity of the guests.
But it was revealed by the fashion magazine "Vogue", which did a long article about the ceremony, accompanied by photos. In one of them, Rama is next to Alex, and in another he appears hidden, while sitting at the table.
The magazine itself has also provided details of what happened at the ceremony, noting that Rama was among the only leaders in Europe to attend, and he was treated as if he were part of the Soros family. He was among the bravest people to raise a toast.
“ Throughout the meal, toasts were raised by Abedin’s son, Jordan; Alex’s older brother, Jonathan Soros; Albania’s Prime Minister, Edi Rama; Anna Wintour (editor-in-chief of Vogue); James Rothschild, who served as the groom’s unofficial best man; and Daniel Sachs (founder and CEO of P Capital Partners) ,” the article notes.
"Vogue" also provided details from Edi Rama's toast: " Edi gave one of the best toasts of the evening... it included an expression about preferring widows over divorcees. You had to be there to understand it ."
But the question arises: Why did Rama keep it a secret? The suspicions are that the prime minister is trying to play a double game. On the one hand, he is trying to maintain relations with Trump, and on the other hand, with his enemies. He was present at an event where two of Trump's main rivals were: Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris.
The Prime Minister knows that Trump cannot be fooled. Just a few days ago, the embassy sent him greetings - no congratulations to him on the elections. However, the Prime Minister seems to have made his choice, and Albania will suffer the consequences if there are tensions in relations with the US. /Pamphlet
