Prime Minister Edi Rama continued his attacks on the justice system during his speech at the Socialist Party Assembly in Durrës, pointing out problems in its functioning.
In a strong political discourse, Rama emphasized that the current justice system does not yet guarantee the proper standards of impartiality and professionalism, raising direct criticism of the way the new institutions are operating.
"Our justice has become independent on a bloody and dirty bed," declared Prime Minister Edi Rama in a speech held at the Socialist Party Assembly in Durrës.
The Prime Minister emphasized that he and his government have been the biggest supporters of justice and that the latter is independent, but added that an independent justice system is not enough to guarantee functional justice and the rule of law because it must be impartial and professional.
"The determination as the leading body of Albania in relation to everything that has come after the passage of the justice reform and we expect it to come further. We have done what no one has done and that no one has dared to imagine before us. We have opened a historical path for justice and we have opened it by completely withdrawing from the territory of judicial power. With facts, no one can show where and how the executive power is connected together with the legislative as an expression with all internal processes related to promotions, inspections, dismissals. We do not have any power with the capacity to intervene in this chain... In fact, today everything can be said and said about everything but no one can provide facts about the lack of independence of justice. Today, justice is independent and this is not enough, because an independent justice is not enough to guarantee functional justice and the rule of law because it must be impartial and professional and there is a lot to do in these. Our justice has become independent in a bed of "bloody and dirty, for 100 years or so, neither free nor independent ," he said.
