Democratic Party MP Klevis Balliu has accused the government of building major infrastructure projects in the country without undergoing mandatory technical inspections, posing a risk to the lives of citizens.
He stated that this is a deliberate strategy by the executive, to avoid legal liability in the event of accidents or disasters caused by poor quality work.
According to the DP MP, major projects such as the Llogara tunnel, the Qukë-Qafë Plloçë axis and the Korçë-Ersekë road have not passed the approval process, which certifies the safety and standard of the work before inauguration.
"It's not done intentionally. The roadworthiness test is the moment when the government verifies the safety of the road. This is done so that if an accident occurs, the state does not hold responsibility and blame the operator ," said Balliu.
According to the MP, this is part of a wider corruption scheme that starts with public tenders. He stressed that Prime Minister Edi Rama is behind the corruption schemes, and not just his ministers.
He added that SPAK's investigations and international pressure, especially from the US, to crack down on money laundering from drug trafficking are tightening the noose around the prime minister.
"The soul of this government is the laundering of drug money. This keeps Rama's power alive and prevents the citizens' budget from increasing ," Balliu told "Syri TV."
