Sali Berisha has reacted to the request that Ilir Meta sent to SPAK to be called as a witness for January 21. Berisha states that Meta came to his office around January 14 or 15 and communicated his resignation.
Berisha claims that Meta has said that he refuses to appear before the prosecutor's office as deputy prime minister. This new detail reopens the debate on the role of key government figures in the days leading up to the protest in which four citizens were killed.
Berisha also mentioned a meeting with Dritan Prifti before the video of the wiretap between Prifti and Meta regarding issues at the Ministry of Energy was published.
He says that Prifti asked him for a new position and warned him about a recording. Berisha says that he responded by saying, "Take the recording out immediately."
" Sali Berisha, the prime minister, first heard Dritan Prifti asking him to appoint him to another important position or else he has a record. I told him to get out as soon as you leave my office. You will never take power from me. Second, there was a letter signed by the owner of a company that had won the right to a hydropower concession through a court. This gentleman wrote that the company lost 70 thousand euros due to the non-implementation of the court's decision ," Berisha said.
