The country's Prime Minister, Edi Rama, today announced the signing of an agreement between the Italian company Ficantieri and the KAYO company, to produce in Albania, at the Pashalimani shipyard, sailing ships for the Albanian army, but also for allied countries.
According to Rama, this agreement is a strategic partnership with the Italian government.
"Strategic partnership with the government of Italy. This is an agreement with Ficantieri to create a new company to produce in Albania at the Pashalimani shipyard sailing ships, which are of benefit to the Albanian army, but also to other armies of allied countries.
"This agreement is very good news for the young people, for the girls and boys of the Vlora Industrial School, who will be the first to be invited to participate in a training journey tailored to be tomorrow, participants in this new society of excellence in their territory, in their city," said Rama.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Defense, Ermal Nufi, stated that thanks to this cooperation, the army but also the Albanian economy will benefit.
"It is an added value not only for Albania, but also for export. There are several strategic values from this cooperation. Albania becomes a new European base for Ficantieri for small and medium-sized ships.... Around 400 people will be employed in this new shipyard. It is a state-of-the-art shipyard that will be developed in Vlora. I am convinced that this new company that will be created will be a source of pride for us", said Nufi.
