Flutura Açka on the opposition table: A 'transfusion' is needed
Butterfly Açka

Former Democratic Party MP Flutura Açka expresses skepticism towards efforts to unify the opposition, assessing that the crisis that has gripped the DP cannot be overcome without a profound internal change.

Açka commented on the recent meeting between the leaders of the Democratic Party, allies and civil society, saying that the initiative was positive in appearance, but failed in essence, because "some of those who sat at the table are the very source of the problem."

"In general, I continue to remain critical, skeptical of the Albanian opposition, especially those of the DP, because we are in the same political swamp, the same situation that left us on May 11. It is very difficult if we do not make a transfusion, a movement, we cannot change the situation. Yesterday's initiative was a good initiative, but the problem is that some of them were praising Sali Berisha, it was more of a slogan to be resized and to say out loud that this is the first and will lead the opposition, so this is what we have decided to have ," she told "Report TV".

According to her, the Albanian opposition has remained trapped in the same vicious circle and fails to inspire the electorate. She emphasized that without a "political transfusion", the DP cannot return as a governing alternative.

Açka also criticized the way in which the meeting was used by some participants to reaffirm Berisha's position, instead of opening a debate for real reform. However, she praised the voices of civil society that, according to her, openly articulated the disappointment and lack of hope that the Democratic Party produces today.

"For the first time, someone, apart from those who are known and have been declared enemies of the DP, public enemies who criticize and wish the DP well, had voices that were very clear in what they were asking for. They said that this Democratic Party as it is does not inspire, in some cases they were desperate, they knew that this would not happen, but they intended to say it with all their heart. I personally did not receive an invitation because I was declared a public enemy without knowing why, because I asked for a strong opposition. In fact, part of that table is the problem, we are against this problem, which is actually part of this problem. This also creates this, not only this type of conflict between the desire that a part of the right has and the inability to perform in support of the right, that conflict that I personally have. The problem is that we are seeking solutions from the same people who have created the crisis," concluded Açka, emphasizing that without radical change, the opposition will continue to remain in the numbered place.
