The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted to the public appearance of Ilir Meta in a glass cage during the court session, following his arrest.
Berisha described this treatment as inhumane and accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of what he said was an act of political revenge. He alleged that Meta was subjected to constant pressure, including psychological and physical violence, as well as serious provocations.
"The former President of the Republic, Speaker of Parliament and former Prime Minister, currently the leader of the PL, a political prisoner, appeared yesterday in the courtroom locked in a glass cage as if he were a dangerous terrorist, although there is no factual evidence against him for any criminal offense. This inhumane, brutal act ordered by Rama brought back to Albanians the scenes of the Stalinist political trials of Enver Hoxha. Psychological and even physical violence and terror have been exercised against Ilir Meta. The lowest and most dangerous provocations have been organized, elementary constitutional rights have been violated ," Berisha said.

The Democratic Party denounces and condemns with the greatest force the arrest, detention, inhumane treatment in prison and in the courtroom, ordered directly by Edi Rama, the bastard of the Hoxha blockmen, against the leader of the PL, Ilir Meta, and demands his immediate release from detention.
The DP calls on the Council of Europe's Anti-Torture Committee to urgently intervene against the primitive, unconstitutional acts of revenge against Ilir Meta by Edi Rama, a fierce enemy of political pluralism and the first and only Ramaduro in Europe.
