Interior Minister Albana Koçiu reacted to allegations of the use of expired tear gas in past Democratic Party protests.
Her statement comes after numerous reactions from citizens and opposition representatives, who have demanded transparency about the composition and term of use of the gas used during the rallies.
Koçiu announced that he has ordered the State Police and the Police Supervision Agency to launch investigations into this matter and that verifications are in process.
The minister did not provide an answer as to whether the gas used was harmful to the health of citizens, emphasizing that the conclusions will be made public after the investigation is closed.
"I have followed up on this concern and ordered an investigation by the police and the Police Supervision Agency. The investigations are continuing and we will come to a conclusion. Whether it is harmful or not, I cannot say," said Koçiu.
