"Electoral crime in the country is not investigated", Alimehmeti: If

Ilir Alimehmeti, one of the most voted candidates of the Democratic Party in Tirana, said that he views with concern the lack of investigation into electoral crime in Albania.

Invited to the News 24 studio, Alimehmeti stressed that democracy in the country is at risk if free and fair elections are not guaranteed.

According to him, the Democratic Party had the best program in the country, but this was not enough to bring about change due to serious problems in the electoral process.

"Electoral crime in the country is not investigated. After the patient dies, the doctor appears. Justice must be effective and timely, " he declared.

He added that over a million Albanians have been expelled from the country in the last 12 years, describing this as a direct consequence of the lack of a functional state.

"That last link is being seized, some counter or commissioner. Albania 2025 is not what I want. The Albanian nation is disappearing, " Alimehmeti warned.

Speaking about the future and the challenges that await the country, he emphasized that without free elections there cannot be a normal state.

"We all fought for the Democratic Party. If there are no free elections, there is no normal state ," he concluded.
