The deputy of the Democratic Party, Oriola Pampuri, has commented on the decision of the EU to suspend the IPARD funds in Agriculture and Rural Development due to economic fraud. IPARD has highlighted that 3/4 of all mismanaged funds for the year 2022 for the 6 countries of the region and Turkey, or 33 million euros of abuses, were caused by the Albanian authorities alone.
Through a post on social networks, Pampuri, calling this a scandal of extraordinary proportions, states that such a level of corruption is incomparable to any country similar to Albania.
Further, Pampuri also said that IPARD has highlighted 33 million euros of abuses which were caused only by the Albanian authorities. She writes that the latest EBRD report confirms once again that Albania has the weakest governance performance.
"The suspension of IPARD funds in Agriculture and Rural Development by the anti-fraud office OLAF in the EU in July of this year proved that the greed of this ruling majority of robbers knows no bounds.
Since 2014, tens of millions of euros have been robbed every year from honest farmers who have not been able to benefit from any grant from the European Union funds, but have gone corruptly to a handful of people connected by political and economic interests to the rulers.
Meanwhile, from year to year, the budget support for Agriculture in the country is less than the annual IPARD fund from the EU, where for the next year it is 31.7 million euros or 4.5 times less than the fund for concessionary contracts and corrupt PPPs.
Recently, IPARD highlights that 3/4 of all mismanaged funds for the year 2022 for the 6 countries of the region and Turkey, or 33 million euros of abuses, were caused by the Albanian authorities alone. So more than the budget support for Agriculture that the government distributes for a year to this sector, which contributes at least 18-20% of the country's GDP.
Also, this abuse is almost 5 times higher than mismanagement in Turkey. And above all, the value of the abuse is almost twice as much as the value itself that went to support a small number of farmers for the same year. This is clearly a scandal of extraordinary proportions. Such a level of corruption is incomparable to any country similar to Albania.
The latest EBRD report confirms once again that Albania has the weakest governance performance, which has directly affected the deterioration of the market, competition and turning into a systemic model of corruption.
Therefore, the Democratic Party of Albania has requested the vetting in politics of every high and elected public functionary for verification in connection with crime, corruption and economic gain unfairly at the expense of Albanians and against the public interest," Pampuri writes .
