The revolt of the "Wagner" group during the weekend we left behind in Russia has been one of the hottest discussions these days.
Socialist MP Denis Deliu, who served as a commando in Afghanistan in 2012-2014, explained what a mercenary is and what they do today.
"They are people who perform actions or tasks for the purpose of payment. Pay depends on mission and difficulty.
In 2013, Valery Gerasimov presented the new war, the new generation war, the hybrid war in Russia. It allows the whole army to adapt. So adapt the special forces, the secret services, which in 2014 in Crimea proved to be very effective, as soft and hard combined methods were used, information warfare, sabotage, financing of pro-Russian separatist groups in Donetsk and Donbass. Cash supply of structures.
All of this was used by the Russian armed forces and secret services to invade Ukraine without firing a single bullet."
Deliu even showed how much Russian mercenaries, who have been sent to Ukraine, can be paid in the war that started in February last year.
"From the information I have, they are paid up to $50,000 a month, maybe more depending on the mission and difficulty. It can be up to 200 thousand dollars, but in Ukraine up to 50 thousand were used. Even more were used against ISIS forces", he said.
Wagner's mercenaries entered the city in the early hours of Saturday in the city of Rostov-on-Don and said they took over the regional military command.
But after the intervention of the Belarusian president, Aleksandar Lukashenko, the head of the Wagner group, Yvgeny Prigozhin, agreed to withdraw his troops as they headed towards Moscow.
